Saturday

The Fourth of July comes early when the San Antonio Symphonic Band and soul/R&B/Latin/funk band War team for a free celebration called “Salute to America.” The symphonic group will play patriotic favorites. Led by keyboard player Lonnie Jordan, a member of the band that evolved into War while working with Eric Burdon, the 2013 edition of War, seven strong, can be counted upon to play hits such as “The Cisco Kid,” “Low Rider,” “Slippin’ into Darkness,” “The World Is a Ghetto” and “Why Can’t We Be Friends?” “Salute to America” also will offer classic American food and activities for kids.
